During summer months many children find themselves in a hungry situation, that’s because many parents can not afford to properly feed their child during summer months when kids are at home.
Children are fed breakfast and lunch during the day and many times that is the only proper meal they get during the school year. So, what do these children do when school is not in session?
To help solve this problem, local governments have summer meal sites set up where children can get a meal and sometimes get tutoring or just play games during the day.
According to the USDA, over 133 million meals were served during summer meal programs.
